There is a brief clip of this fight on Youtube, other then that all we have are eyewitness accounts, namely Rocky's who later in his career said "this was the toughest fight he ever fought" From accounts of the fight, both men exchanged back and forth punching for nearly 6 rounds, Rocky landing the harder punches but Vingo landing faster and more frequently. Finally in the 6th Vingo was dropped a final time. There is a gruesome picture of him lying on the canvas covered in blood with ring doctors working on him. Vingo nearly died from the fight and suffered a brain hemorrhage. He never entered the ring again. Marciano was up all night after the fight praying for Vingo to pull through. I have often wondered if that is why the Rocky movies have "Father Carmine" and Rocky's religious inspiration. The punch against Vingo is considered to be maybe the hardest punch in boxing and there is a picture of it nearly always associated with Marciano. Rocky stayed at his side though most of the hospitalization, and Vingo finally made it out although he was slightly paralyzed on one side of his body.
